  1. UN's 8 Priorities for 2011:
    1. inclusive and sustainable development in the face of a global recession. People are worried about their jobs, their security, their children’s future.
    2. and climate change as top on the agenda as we work towards Rio+20 (note= 2012 Earth Summit that's held once every decade. The +20 is referring to the last Earth Summit in 1992 where the famous Agenda 21 Plan of Action was developed to help Humanity make it beyond the year 2100. More: www.earthsummit2012.org )
    3. women’s empowerment
    4. Focusing on promoting a safer and more secure world.
    5. advancing human rights
    6. improving the response to major humanitarian crises.
    7. Maintaining the momentum achieved in disarmament and nuclear non-proliferation
    8. strengthen the UN from within by building a more modern, flexible Organization, better able to meet the challenges of the 21st century. Strengthening the UN from within. As ever, our watchwords are transparency, accountability, efficiency and effectiveness. The UN as the “doing” organization and the “delivering” organization. a strong UN, effectively delivering for people in need, doing more with the resources that we have, investing the global taxpayers’ contributions wisely. Noted: Change in power in Côte d’Ivoire, the referendum in Sudan/ Darfour and Haiti.
